Jo Nijs

Jo Nijs holds a PhD in rehabilitation science and physiotherapy. He is professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Brussels, Belgium) and physiotherapist/manual therapist at the University Hospital Brussels.

Jo’s research and clinical interests are patients with chronic unexplained pain/ fatigue and pain-movement interactions. He has (co-) authored >200 peer reviewed publications, obtained €6.8 million of grant income, supervised 10 PhD projects to completion (excluding 18 on going PhD projects) and served more than 200 times as an invited speaker at (inter)national meetings in 24 different countries (including 26 keynotes).

Jo’s work has been cited >3000 times (ISI Web of Knowledge). He is ranked 1st in the world among central nervous system sensitization researchers, 1st in the world among chronic fatigue syndrome researchers, 4th in the world among whiplash researchers and 7th in the world among chronic pain researchers (expertscape.com) www.paininmotion.be twitter@PaininMotion

Jo Nijs ha un PhD in fisioterapia e scienze riabilitative. È professore alla Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Brussels, Belgium) ed è fisioterapista/terapista manuale presso l’University Hospital di Brussels.

La ricerca e l’interesse clinico di Jo si concentrano su pazienti con dolore cronico/fatica inspiegabili ed interazione dolore-movimento. È co-autore di oltre 200 pubblicazioni peer reviewed, ha ottenuto 6,8 millioni di euro in borse di studio, ha supervisionato 10 progetti di PhD (esclusi i 18 progetti di PhD in essere) ed ha relazionato oltre 200 volte come relatore invitato a conferenze internazionali in 24 paesi diversi (incluse 26 volte come keynote speaker).

I lavori di Jo sono stati citati oltre 3000 volte (ISI Web of Knowledge). È classificato al primo posto nel mondo tra i ricercatori riguardo la sensibilizzazione del sistema nervoso centrale, primo al mondo tra i ricercatori riguardo la sindrome da affaticamento cronico, 4° al mondo tra i ricercatori riguardo il colpo di frusta e 7° al mondo tra i ricercatori sul dolore cronico (expertscape.com).
